Quantitative Methylation Analysis of Genomic DNA
DNA methylation plays an important role in the regulation of gene expression. Following the treatment of genomic DNA (gDNA) with sodium bisulfite, the non-methylated cytosine (C) residues are converted to uracil (U) residues (which are then converted to thymine (T) residues after amplification). Several technologies allow the measurement of the C/T ratios of CpG sites (which correspond to the methylation level) in targeted regions or in the entire genome.
