TaqMan® genotyping technology (ThermoFisher scientific)
- Small-scale genotyping between 1 and 4 loci (SNP and indel) in general
- Custom genotyping to study specific regions of interest in any species
- Pre-validated commercial trials (human and mouse)
Applications
- Candidate gene studies
- SNP discovery validation
- Fine mapping of candidate association regions
Description
TaqMan® chemistry is highly flexible, making it possible to genotype various types of polymorphisms in any organism. This technology is indicated for small-scale genotyping projects (typically for 1 to 4 loci) for markers such as SNPs and indels (insertion/deletion polymorphisms) of up to 6 bases. These assays are ideal for genotyping applications including screening, association, candidate region and fine mapping studies.
TaqMan chemistry uses fluorogenic probes to enable detection of a specific PCR product as it accumulates during PCR cycles. Differentially-labeled fluorogenic probes enable allelic discrimination. Detection is performed using a real-time PCR instrument. The average conversion rate of TaqMan® Genotyping System assays is around 98%, with an error rate of no more than 0.1%.
Available products
The service offered is primarily based on Applied Biosystems’ collection of 4.5 million specific pre-validated assays (Pre-Designed TaqMan® Assays) (human and mouse). Custom assays can also be developed.
