The employees of Génome Québec join the members of the Board of Directors in extending their deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of Prof. Louis Bernatchez, Université Laval. An eminent researcher, Prof. Bernatchez had recently accepted the invitation to become a director of Génome Québec. When asked about the motivation behind his decision, Louis simply replied that “it was a way for him to give back to the organization that had enabled him to carry out world-class work and train the next generation of scientists at the cutting edge of genomics”. He wanted to contribute to Génome Québec’s strategic vision, by putting to good use his wealth of knowledge in the field of genomics applied to environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of species used for food.
