In order to advance the science of genomics, we need to move beyond cataloguing the components of cells in tissues and organisms to understanding how genomes are organized and how cells, tissues and organisms function. Bioinformatics is the area of research and development that will allow us to do this, by combining the disciplines of biological and computing sciences to make sense of the huge amounts of genomic data becoming available.
This project will link the regional Genome Canada Centres by developing a dedicated hardware component and software platform, thereby providing a powerful infrastructure for participating researchers and facilitating analysis of genomics data. The platform also offers a ‘help desk’ and a dedicated training series, to assist genomics researchers across Canada.
