She was a key figure and strategist in the women&#8217;s suffrage movement and also supported movements for the end of slavery and the recognition of indigenous rights.<br>In 1883, Matilda published a book called &#8220;Woman as an Inventor,&#8221; which highlighted notable scientific advancements made by women.
